With all of the second guessing going on following the Fort Hood attack it was refreshing to read one official actually hitting the nail upon the head.

Frances Townsend, a former Homeland Security advisor to president George W. Bush, said she feared there was a reluctance to proceed against Hasan, despite the red flags, because he was an army officer.
Investigators “should feel confident that they can pursue the facts” even if it leads to a Muslim army officer, she said. “The mechanism certainly does exist” for different US intelligence agencies to share the information, she said.
It is hard to miss the fact that Hasan probably moved along for graduation and promotion due to Political Correctness. Mentioning his radical Islamic ideology as a factor would be making waves and anyone in the Military will tell you that you don’t want to make waves. Admitting that a mistake was by being too politically correct would not just cause waves but would cause a tsunami. Still, if the Army had taken off the Islamic protective gloves judging his progress like any other Soldier’s , Hasan would have received the boot that he so richly deserved after throwing out too many red flags.
Military Families need to remain vigilant and contact their representatives urging them to keep in mind that poltical correctives had a hand in allowing Hasan to slip therough the cracks. This may cause a tsunami but without a tsunami we are going to get weaker and weaker until we are attacked at home once again. You also have to remember that the Military are the ones who have always led in diversity so it would be perfect for the Military to led the way and ignore all boxes to be checked on race, religion, or gender proving perfect equality.
